National Risk Index Tool

Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA),

FEMA’s National Risk Index is an interactive mapping tool that helps identify communities most at risk from natural hazards across the United States. The tool aggregates multiple indicators—expected annual loss, social vulnerability, and community resilience—across 18 hazard types including floods, earthquakes, and wildfire. Users can analyze data at the county and census tract levels to inform risk communication, funding priorities, mitigation planning, and policy development. The interface includes downloadable datasets and customization options for technical users. This resource is widely used by emergency managers, planners, and public officials to prioritize investments and address the most vulnerable areas.
