Education Equity Requires Modern School Facilities


Build America's School Infrastructure Coalition (BASIC),

This article synthesizes decades of research on school facilities, identifying public school infrastructure as a regressive element of public education finance. Without investments in school facilities, students are compelled to attend dilapidated schools, which can negatively impact their educational opportunities. It reviews research topics on student success, teacher working conditions, climate change, school funding formulas, and their link to student achievement. In addition, it provides recommendations for lawmakers to enhance school infrastructure.
