Critical Facilities Planning for K-12 Districts

In 2016, with the support of the former Education Facilities Clearinghouse at George Washington University, under a U.S. Department of Education grant, the National Council on School Facilities and the 21st Century School Fund developed a suite of informational videos on educational facilities planning. The videos feature state officials discussing best practices related to developing master plans, safety and emergency operations plans, maintenance plans, educational specifications, capital improvement plans, and energy and environmental management plans. School districts and communities can use these short videos and plan examples to assess whether their communities are using effective practices for educational facilities planning.
