The Water Infrastructure Improvements for the Nation (WIIN) Act Grant Program, administered by the EPA’s Office of Ground Water and Drinking Water, funds projects that improve drinking water infrastructure and protect public health. The program includes three specific grant opportunities that address lead contamination and water quality improvements in schools and public water systems. To qualify, applicants must provide recent drinking water sample results demonstrating lead contamination at levels exceeding the EPA’s remediation trigger of 5 parts per billion. Eligible recipients include state education agencies (SEAs) and local education agencies (LEAs). While the current application cycle has closed, additional funding may be allocated in the near future. Schools and agencies should monitor EPA announcements for updates on new funding opportunities.
