EPA’s free School IAQ Assessment Mobile App turns any smartphone or tablet into a walk-through inspection kit for K-12 facilities. The tool packages the IAQ Tools for Schools checklists—covering ventilation, cleaning and maintenance, environmental asthma triggers, radon and integrated pest management—into an interactive format that guides custodial staff, nurses or administrators step by step through each room. Users can enter observations, attach photos, and e-mail completed checklists to the district IAQ coordinator, who receives auto-generated action recommendations aligned with EPA’s Framework for Effective School IAQ Management. The app simplifies record-keeping by organizing multiple buildings and dates, becoming a central database for identifying patterns and prioritizing repairs. “Assess, then address” is its core message: routine, data-driven walkthroughs help schools detect problems early, protect student and staff health, and avoid costly emergency fixes. Quick-start videos, FAQs and an Excel reference guide support onboarding.
