Analysis of the Impact of DCPS School Closings for SY2008-2009

This memo provides a replicable approach to analyzing the impact of school closings on schools and families. It describes the low school enrollment utilization problem faced by the District of Columbia Public Schools (DCPS) at that time, and examines the enrollment patterns resulting from the DCPS 2008-2009 school closings. It identifies key questions related to the impact of the closings on education quality and on budgets. This memo was prepared by the 21st Century School Fund, Urban Institute, and the Brookings Institution.
