Expanding Financing Options for Nevada’s K-12 Facilities

Guinn Center for Policy Priorities,

This brief recommends expanding financing options to better meet the capital needs of all school districts in Nevada. School districts throughout Nevada face critical, unmet capital needs and currently lack sufficient resources to fund repairs and build new schools. Existing financing tools rely primarily on local funding and have not generated adequate revenue in a timely manner. Additionally, the current structure has widened disparities between school districts, given that each district has a different set of funding sources available. This policy brief provides recommendations to expand the financing options available to school districts to address their capital needs.
